<p><strong>FILM FORUM COORDINATOR: September 12, 2011 – November 4, 2011 (8 weeks) Salary: $3,744</strong></p>
<p>Responsible for the coordination, implementation and promotion of the Film Forum – a series of film industry workshops, seminars and panel discussions that takes place in conjunction with the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival. Activities include:<br />
- Assist the Director with Film Forum design, content, scheduling and final reporting<br />
- Coordinate, market and promote the Film Forum workshop series (in cooperation with Marketing and Publicity Coordinator)<br />
- Arrange one-on-one meetings between filmmakers and industry representatives<br />
- Coordinate/create networking opportunities for Film Forum delegates and local industry<br />
- Secure venues and equipment for workshops (in conjunction with the Event Coordinator)<br />
- Work closely with the Event Coordinator and Technical Director to ensure that all Film Forum venue preparations are completed in a timely and efficient manner;<br />
- Work closely with the Hospitality Coordinator to ensure that Film Forum delegates and attendees’ needs are met<br />

<p>Responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers for the 22nd annual St. John&#8217;s International Women&#8217;s Film Festival. Activities include:<br />
- Recruit volunteers through public service announcements<br />
- Work with Festival staff to determine volunteer scheduling requirements<br />
- Update/improve volunteer handbook for the Festival<br />
- Train volunteers (rules, regulations, protocol, etc.); set up two meetings<br />
- Coordination/scheduling of volunteers before, during and after the event<br />
- Design and coordinate volunteer t-shirts<br />
- Make sure volunteers&#8217; needs are met<br />
- Organize a post-event party to celebrate the efforts of volunteer staff<br />

SPONSOR / PUBLICITY COORDINATOR: September 12, 2011 – November 4, 2011 (8 weeks) Salary: $3,744</strong></p>
<p>Responsible for the development and implementation of an “offline” or print media and marketing plan that will enhance the event through the disbursement of information and high-quality promotional materials. The Coordinator will also be responsible for publicity and sponsor relations before, during and after the event, liaising between filmmakers, film industry players and members of the media, as well as sponsor relations and benefits. Activities include:<br />
- Implement an offline, or print, marketing and publicity plan with associated budget, advertising targets, objectives (ie. attract media, enhance festival, increase attendance, etc.)<br />
- Compile media/publicity packages for press, advertisers and sponsors<br />
- Supervise required personnel<br />
- Coordinate press conference, other activities to generate media interest before, during and after festival<br />
- Arrange interviews/publicity for filmmakers and delegates<br />
- Coordinate distribution of marketing materials<br />
- Evaluate marketing and publicity operations and prepare report/recommendations for Festival Director<br />
- Ensuring all sponsorship requirements are met (including signage, advertising, other benefits)</p>

<p>Responsible for coordinating travel, accommodations and activities for visiting filmmakers, sponsors and industry delegates. The Coordinator is also responsible for guest relations including travel and accommodations. Activities include:<br />

<p>Each year the <a href="http://www.nlac.nf.ca/index.htm">Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council</a> (NLAC) presents the Arts Awards show and gala. It is a celebration that honours the accomplishments of Newfoundland and Labrador’s artists. Six awards are presented during an evening of high quality entertainment featuring some of the province’s finest artists.</p>
<p>The six Awards are: Artist of the Year, Arts Achievement, Arts in Education, Emerging Artist, Hall of Honour, and Patron of the Arts. Nominations for the Arts Awards are submitted by the arts community, arts organizations, and the general public. Members of the NLAC vote by secret ballot to select the finalists and winners.</p>
<p><strong>Producer/Director:</strong></p>
<p>The NLAC is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals to produce and direct the 26th annual Arts Awards show at the Reid Theatre in St. John’s on Saturday, April 30, 2011.<br />

Duties include but are not restricted to:</p>
<p>· Working with the Arts Awards committee to identify the host, house band, and other entertainment<br />
· Developing a theme and work with the set designer to create the look and feel for this year’s show<br />
· Acting on behalf of the NLAC to contact and communicate with the above parties<br />
· Identifying, recommending, assembling, and supervising the technical team (including set and lighting designers, stage manager, assistant director, lighting, sound, and other crew as needed)<br />
· Acting on behalf of the NLAC as key contact with venue’s technical staff<br />
· Compiling, coordinating and directing the show’s running order (entertainment and award presentations)</p>

<p>IMAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the production of media arts on Prince Edward Island. IMAC is the cornerstone of the media arts community on PEI, it provides human resources, equipment, progressive programming, training, and dissemination opportunities to PEI&#8217;s media arts storytellers.</p>
<p>The Executive Director of IMAC is given the exciting opportunity to vision for and inspire the media arts community in Prince Edward Island. Through the ED&#8217;s leadership, films and videos are produced, screenings and media arts exhibitions engage the public, young minds are inspired by the tools of media arts creation, and a network of talented and prolific media artists is strengthened.<br />
<span id="more-426"></span><br />
The position of Executive Director is integral to IMAC&#8217;s organization. The ED is in charge of sustaining and growing the media arts sector and community on PEI, through forward-thinking programming, responsible administration, out-reach initiatives, advocacy, education, celebration, and communications. The ED is the central figure in IMAC&#8217;s landscape and must demonstrate a true dedication and appreciation of the independent media arts.</p>
<p>The Executive Director at IMAC is a position of 24 hrs./week at $15/hr. However, there is real opportunity for the ED to increase his or her hours and hourly wage, through their own initiative.</p>
<p>Applicants for the ED position must meet the following criteria:</p>
<p>    *    Demonstrate an integration of administrative skills and artistic vision.<br />
    *    Have the skills to enhance the brand of IMAC to the general public, media artists, and government on all levels.<br />
    *    Demonstrate a sensitivity to media arts and/or arts communities in general.<br />
    *    Demonstrate a commitment to outreach to youth, under-served, and culturally-diverse communities.<br />
    *    Have a working knowledge of the media arts sector and/or experience in arts administration.<br />
    *    Demonstrate strong communications skills.<br />
    *    Have a working knowledge of internet technologies and computers. (Both PC and Mac)<br />
    *    Have experience in, or aptitude for grant-writing.<br />
    *    Book-keeping/accounting experience is a plus (Simply Accounting a big plus).</p>

<p>The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is currently accepting applications for a one-year maternity leave Executive Director position starting May 1st, 2010 (52 weeks, F/T contract position). </p>
<p>Now in its 21st year, the Festival (a registered charitable organization) is dedicated to the celebration, exhibition and advancement of women filmmakers through an acclaimed international film festival, cross-provincial screening tour, youth workshops and other satellite events. Held annually in October at various venues throughout St. John’s, NL, the Festival itself is a week-long screening series of 80-90 works by women directors, producers and writers and also features a workshop/seminar series, galas, receptions and other networking events. Responsibilities: The Executive Director oversees all aspects of Festival operations and finance, including development, communications, partnerships, and planning/programming of year-round activities, under the guidance of a dynamic and involved Board of Directors. Duties include grant writing and reporting; corporate fundraising; program development and implementation; management of financial records and budgets; communication with audience, filmmakers, media, government officials and other arts organizations; hiring and management of a staff of 2-7 full/part-time employees and volunteers; regular reporting to the Festival’s Board of Directors; coordination of board meetings; and general office duties.</p>
<p>This position requires a highly motivated, professional and experienced individual with strong oral, written, organizational and managerial skills; knowledge of the provincial film industry; experience with financial recording and budgets; keen attention to detail; and significant computer proficiency. The ability to work independently and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment is critical.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation is looking for an individual to fill the following position:</p>
<p><strong>Industry Analyst </strong></p>
<p>Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the development and administration of all professional development initiatives for the Corporation based on the needs of the local film and video industry.  This position is responsible for identifying human resource and professional development training needs and preparing and coordinating all aspects of workshops to be offered.  In addition, this position, under the direction of the Executive Director, will have as a duty to assist in the strategic planning and development of the industry as it relates to professional development.</p>
<p>The ideal incumbent should possess a combination of:</p>
<p>1. Bachelor’s Degree<br />
2. Experience in the Film, Television or Multi-platform environment<br />
3. Strong written and communication skills<br />
4. Strong ability to work as part of a team to identify and find solutions for a variety of industry needs<br />
5. Strong ability to independently organize and accurately complete multiple tasks.</p>
<p>Salary to commensurate with experience.</p>

Organization: <a href="http://www.rca.nf.ca/">Resource Centre for the Arts &#8211; LSPU Hall </a>(RCA)<br />
Position: General Manager</p>
<p>Resource Centre for the Arts is a community arts organization that owns and operates the LSPU Hall and the Resource Centre for the Arts Theatre Company. Run by an elected Board of Directors, RCA&#8217;s mandate is to nurture and promote the performing arts.</p>
<p>GENERAL MANAGER<br />
The General Manger is responsible for the administration of the LSPU Hall building, including financial planning and control, facility management, marketing, development, government/agency relations, public relations, audience services, contract negotiations, staff relations and board administration.<br />
<span id="more-249"></span><br />
The General Manager has complete responsibility for the financial and administrative management of the building and its operations.  The General Manager sees to it that monthly balances are complete, controls the banking activities and prepares draft budgets for the consideration of the board.  The General Manager carries out all tasks ancillary to fundraising.  Working alone or with Board members, the General Manager prepares submissions to corporate and government supporters and maintains contact with all levels of government and non-governmental organizations to protect the interests of the organization. </p>
<p>This position requires experience in Arts Administration or project management, with experience in budgets and financial management.  Job requires wide range of skills including fundraising and grant writing.  Technical skills include knowledge of computer systems (MS word, excel, data base management, etc.). </p>
<p>Independent decision making is a requirement in this position. </p>
<p>MINIMUM LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate field: Commerce, Communications, Arts Administration, Facility Management, etc.</p>

The Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador (WANL) is a not-for-profit organization established in 1987 to contribute to a supportive environment for writing in the province. </p>
<p>Responsibilities: The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization, including: preparation of grant applications and reports; program development and implementation; management of financial records and program budgets; communication with membership, media, government officials and other arts organizations; supervision of Executive Assistant and volunteers; management of members’ newsletter and website; coordination and execution of Annual General Meeting; reporting to Board of Directors; coordination of board and committee meetings; event planning; and general office duties.</p>
<p>Hours are 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, with frequent evenings and weekends required for literary events. The salary is to be negotiated on basis of qualifications and experience.</p>
<p>Qualifications: This is a full-time position requiring a highly motivated individual with strong oral, written and organizational skills; knowledge of the provincial writing/publishing industry; experience with financial recording and budgets; attention to detail; and significant computer proficiency.</p>
