In celebration of film festival season, The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery is looking for your best 1-minute video. Tell us a story; create a portrait; animate a new world. Sought is the forward-thinking. Open to all ages and all experience levels. Submissions will go to jury, with the best showcased in the gallery.
Exhibition Dates: September, 2010 – January, 2011
Submission Deadline: 4 p.m., August 6, 2010
Criteria
- Video running time must not exceed 60 seconds.
- Received at the Gallery office by no later than 4 p.m., August 6, 2010
- Entries should be submitted as Windows Media Video (WMV), QuickTime, MPEG, Audio Video Interleave (AVI), burned to DVD/CD.
- All categories welcome (digital-based contemporary artwork, visual collage, fiction, experimental, documentary, animation, music)
- All genres are acceptable such as: drama, comedy, mockumentary, satire, sci-fi, thriller, horror, etc.
- Videos must be suitable for “General” audience viewing (the programming committee reserves the right to disqualify entries if content is deemed inappropriate)
- The artist(s) must have secured permission to use all applicable copyrighted or trademarked material (music, image, text sources).
- Limit of 2 submissions per candidate or team. All ages and all experience levels welcome!
- There is no submission fee.
- All submissions will be juried. Submission does not ensure participation in the exhibition. Jury notes will not be made available. Submissions will not be returned.
Formats
- Entries should be submitted as Windows Media Video (WMV), QuickTime, MPEG, Audio Video Interleave (AVI), burned to DVD/CD.
- DVD/CD format (NTSC); labeled with the title, artist/team’s name, contact email address, and running time. If selected, the submitted DVD will be the one screened, therefore please ensure that it is of the highest quality using the least amount of compression.
Prizes:
Grand Prize:
- $750 – The grand prize for Short Sighted 2010 will be selected by the jury.
Viewer’s Choice Award:
- $250 – It’s simple – the entry that receives the most votes by the end of the exhibition WINS! (Entries will be available, and are to be submitted, in the gallery.)
Viewer (voter) Prize Draw:
- Watch, Vote, Win! One voter will win a $50 gift certificate to The Rooms Gift Shop.
Artist Fees:
- If accepted into the exhibition, a screening/exhibiting fee of $50 per entry will be paid.
