BROADCAST TECHNOLOGIST – Permanent – Sessional

(Core schedule: mid-February to June and November to mid-December to a maximum of 26 weeks/ fiscal year)

Information Management – Broadcast Services, House of Assembly, Confederation Building

The Information Management Division, of which the Records Office is part, is responsible for the development and implementation of Information Management (research & records) policies, procedures, standards and infrastructure for the House of Assembly. Broadcast Services is responsible for broadcasting and recording the visual and aural proceedings of the Legislature.

DUTIES:
This position is accountable for the efficient and accurate delivery, presentation and recording of program material and events of the Newfoundland and Labrador Legislature to the House of Assembly television channel ensuring both visual and aural material meets technical and aesthetic requirements. This position is responsible for the technology used to televise and record the House of Assembly, its committees, Management Commission and special events. This position also records all proceedings for the production of Hansard.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential to this position is a strong understanding of computers, computer applications and computer maintenance in a broadcast environment and knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador Parliamentary Procedures. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime hours as required.
These qualifications would normally be acquired through completion of a three-year program in Electronic Technology or Television Broadcasting, plus one year advanced training in video production; five years experience working in television production mostly in a control room environment and experience in coordinating traffic requirements; or a minimum combination of experience and training. Graphic design experience would be an asset.

SALARY: GL 17: $56,389-$62,388 pro-rata
